(Des Moines) The snow and ice made Wednesday a busy day for the Iowa State Patrol. Road conditions deteriorated throughout the state.
The southern half of the state and far eastern Iowa had the worst road conditions at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, the State Patrol reports troopers had responded to one hundred twelve crashes and 186 calls for driver assistance.
State Troopers may be busy again starting tomorrow. According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of snow between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The snow could be heavy at times, with patchy blowing snow between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with a south wind of 13 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. The chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible.
More snow is forecast early Saturday morning, with a new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
