(Des Moines) A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6:00 this evening to 6:00 Wednesday for Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont and Page counties and from Midnight tonight to Midnight Wednesday night for Audubon, Guthrie, Cass, Adair, Adams , Union, Taylor and Ringgold counties.
Shelby and Harrison counties are in a Winter Weather Advisory.
Snow is expected to begin toward midnight tonight over western Iowa spreading into central and eastern Iowa after midnight. While snow is expected statewide, the highest snow accumulations will be over portions of central and southern Iowa with 5 to 8 inches expected. Snow covered and slick roads should be expected and create for
hazardous travel. Snow rates will generally range from one quarter to three-quarters of an inch per hour. Visibility will be reduced in falling snow and blowing snow will also create minor to moderate impacts. The snow will taper off from west to east late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening.
Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
