(Avoca, IA) — AHSTW is heading into this Saturday’s districts with high hopes and hopefully healthy wrestlers. Kayden Baxter of the Vikings has missed some time this year but Head Coach Michael Baker expects him to be ready this Saturday. Baxter could be a 1 or 2 seed — Bode Stanley of I-35 is 37-8 and in the same 175 pound weight class. Colton Nixt of Earlham has 26 wins, Tony Kukar of Woodbine is 21-6 but Baker says Baxter can’t worry about his competition
There is no doubt that Henry Lund will be the #1 seed at 285 this Saturday at districts. Lund is 38-4 — he has lost twice to Trent Warner of Nodaway Valley plus Evan Sorenson of Atlantic and Thai Cam of Sioux Center. Baker says that Lund has been more active offensively this year
AHSTW has a thin roster but Baker hopes some of his other kids can make some noise in the district match at Truro this Saturday
Other schools competing at Interstate 35 include Central Decatur, Earlham, Logan Magnolia, Martensdale St. Mary’s, Panorama, Southeast Warren, Wayne and Woodbine. We will update the Vikings wrestlers this Saturday starting at 6 with our Wrestling District Recap Show on KSOM.
