(Ames) Audubon High School graduate and Iowa State University sophomore Collin Bauer is nearing the end of his one-year-term as State FFA President.
Collin joined the Audubon FFA Chapter in eighth grade and actively took on leadership roles throughout his time in the organization. He served as Chapter Reporter and later as Chapter President during his senior year. As a sophomore at Audubon, he was elected Southwest Iowa District Vice-President. At the close of his senior year, he was elected State Vice-President for the 2023-2024 school year. Currently, Collin is completing his term as State FFA President.
Bauer says he was introduced to the state FFA scene at a very young age. During the 2013 state convention, he watched his older brother, Logan, run for office. Seeing the sea of blue jackets fill Hilton Coliseum and witnessing Logan’s election to office inspired Collin to fully commit to FFA.
Bauer says serving as the State FFA President has been the best years of his life. His travels have included all FFA opportunities in Washington, D.C., Indianapolis, Spain, and Portugal. He mentions that his best travel experience was traveling to every corner of Iowa. He has visited schools, attended conferences, and interacted with the over 20,000 FFA members nationwide.
Bauer says he has experienced growth over his FFA career.
Bauer believes no organization offers its members the same travel opportunities and experiences as FFA. His involvement has taken him to Washington, D.C., three times and to Indianapolis on multiple occasions.
Over the next few months, Bauer and his teammates will be busy planning, practicing, and ultimately executing the 87th Iowa FFA Leadership Conference in April. In addition to preparing for the event, they continue visiting schools, participating in National FFA activities starting the week of February 15, and attending District Conventions on the first and second Saturdays of March.
Collin Bauer is a sophomore at Iowa State University, studying agriculture and life sciences. Collin is the son of Michael and Jennifer Bauer.
