(Des Moines) A bill requiring Iowa schools to show a video about pregnancy has cleared its first hurdle. A Senate subcommittee gave approval to the measure last week and will now go before the full committee for consideration. The measure would force schools to show students a video that depicts different stages of pregnancy, but opponents believe it contains misinformation about the process. A similar bill was able to get through the state House last year but it didn’t get approval from the Senate.
