(Atlantic) Kyle Cofer, a representative from Retail Coach, attended the Atlantic City Council meeting via conference call on Wednesday. He highlighted several prospects interested in establishing a presence in Atlantic, although a couple of potential deals fell through. Two years ago, the Atlantic City Council hired Retail Coach, a national recruitment and consulting firm, to assist with retail recruitment and development in the area.
Cofer mentioned that one of the key prospects is a well-known statewide convenience store that is expanding rapidly.
Cofer noted that they had identified a site in Atlantic for this convenience store and had everything arranged. Sadly, the deal fell through at the last minute.
Cofer mentions that “Retail Coach” continues to stay in touch with a particular group and believes they may return at some point.
Cofer is currently working with a fast-food restaurant and a dollar store. He noted that a developer from his firm collaborates closely with a specific property in town. This developer was set to purchase the property and increase his offer, with two retail businesses ready to move in: a dollar store and a fast-food restaurant that everyone would be excited about. However, similar to the situation with the convenience store, the deal fell through at the last minute.
Atlantic City Councilman Mike McDermott inquired about why these deals fell through.
Cofer stated they are working with two other food concepts: a well-known tool retailer and an outdoor store. However, no deals have been finalized at this time. He emphasized that there is still considerable interest in the Atlantic market.
