(Griswold) During Monday’s School Board meeting, Griswold School Superintendent Dave Henrichs discussed Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds’s proposed cell phone policy. In her Condition of the State Address last week, Reynolds prioritized restricting cell phones in Iowa K-12 schools as a key issue for the upcoming 2025 legislative session.
Henrichs stated that if the Governor’s policy restricts the use of cell phones during instructional time, it could be effective.
However, he noted that the situation might change significantly if the policy completely bans cell phones in schools.
In other business, the School Board approved a bid from J. Wood Sports Floor for $164,000 to replace the high school gym floor, which came in well under the school budget estimate of $230,000.
