(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors set a public hearing date to consider vacating and closing a section of a road in Cass County and Audubon County.
Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken said they are looking at vacating a portion of 350th Street/Akron Road.
The public hearing will be held on February 4th.
In other action, the Supervisors approved a letter of support for SWI Egg for their grant application from IDALS. Board Chair Steve Baier explains…
Baier noted that SWI Egg has around 240 shareholders, 26 employees, uses 650,000 bushel of corn a year, and 4,800 tons of soybean meal a year.
Steve Baier abstained from the vote as he is a stockholder in SWI Egg.
The Supervisors also received an update from Diane Schultz with the Iowa Mormon Trails Association. She said around 14 signs marking the Mormon Trail in Cass County are set to be replaced. The Supervisors Board Chair and County Engineer signed a letter from the National Park Service to have the signs delivered. The County Engineer’s Office will be in charge of replacing the signs.
The Supervisors approved the appointment of Spencer Walton to Jail Administrator with an annual salary of $4,285.96. They approved renewing the SWI Juvenile Detention Center 28E Agreement. The board approved the resignation of Ray Schellenberg as Grant Township Trustee, the appointment of Adam Akers as Grant Township Trustee, and the appointment of Patrick Hoffman to the Board of Health.
The Supervisors took no action on closing the courthouse on Christmas Eve. They are letting the Department heads decide if they want to close for the day, or close early, and the employees use comp time.
