(Washington D.C) This week, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst passed her Sarah’s Law as an amendment to the Laken Riley Act to ensure our laws prioritize Americans. These bills work in tandem to close loopholes in the law that have allowed illegal immigrants to commit violent crimes against Americans.
Ahead of its final passage, she called for the Senate to pass her bill on behalf of the life of young Iowan Sarah Root, who was killed by an illegal immigrant driving drunk and escaped justice for his crime. Following her speech, Sarah’s Law passed 75-24.
