(Elk Horn, IA) — Exira EHK will have a quick turnaround after playing Ar-We-Va last night — they host Boyer Valley tonight in a Rolling Valley Conference doubleheader, coverage on KSOM.
Last night, the Spartan girls beat the Rockets 64-27 to improve to 8-3 — Jaelynn Petersen is back with the team and has averaged over 10 points a game in the seven she has played in. Head Coach Tom Petersen says she is still not 100 percent the same player she was last year
Taryn Petersen still leads the way averaging nearly 23 points a game. She is still only shooting 28 percent from three point land — the Spartans are shooting 22 percent as a team. Tom Petersen says the team has to be more selective in which threes they take
They’ll face a Boyer Valley team that also played last night and beat Tri Center 47-28 get to the 500 mark at 7-7. The Bulldogs are led by Sylvia Sullivan who averages 10 points and 10 rebounds a game.
On the boys side, Exira EHK fell to Ar-We-Va last night 69-56 and are now 2-9 on the season. Josh Nelson continues to pace the Spartans averaging 15.8 ppg. That’s no surprise. What has been a little more surprising is that Austin Rasmussen has emerged as a solid number two scorer. He is averaging 9.8 a game and is shooting 35 percent on this threes. Not bad for a cross country runner who only scored 19 points total last year. Head Coach Tony Santistaben
Boyer Valley is well rested — of the 4 teams they are the only one who didn’t take the court last night. The Bulldogs are 4-8 and led by Brody Koski with 11 points a game, Tristen Burkhart comes in at 10.9 and Michael Davis at 10.6. Santisaben says they are a scrappy team that wants revenge from losing to the Spartans earlier
