(Lincoln, Nebraska) A Nebraska man is in custody in Fremont County following a pursuit.
According to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year old Donald Wakefield, of Lincoln, Nebraska is charged with; Felony Eluding, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Interference with Official Acts, Reckless Driving and numerous other violations.
The Fremont County K-9 Unit on Saturday attempted to stop a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Wakefield in Sidney. The Nebraska man accelerated and led Deputies through a residential area in Sidney at speeds of 60-miles per hour. Subsequently, the car crashed through a fence and became stuck in a cattle lot just east of Sidney. Wakefield then fled on foot towards a farm residence on 290th Street; however, K-9 “Judge” apprehended the suspect before he got to the home. Wakefield continued to disobey authorities. The farmer living at the residence came in and assisted the Deputy with the arrest.
Authorities transported Wakefield to the Grape Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. Deputies then transported him to the Fremont County Law Enforcement Center. His bond is $6,600 bond.
