(Leon) A man riding a motorized wheelchair suffered serious injuries when struck by a pickup.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened Thursday evening at 807 NW 6th Street in Leon, Iowa. Authorities identified the injured man as 64-year-old Anthony Owens of Leon.
According to the report, 33-year-old Jordan Durell of Leon, driving eastbound on NW 6th Street on the unlit Street, did not see Mr. Owens and struck the eastbound motorized wheelchair. The impact threw Owens into the south ditch.
Ground ambulance transported Owens to the Decatur County Hospital. Mercy One then airlifted Mr. Owens to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
