(Des Moines) Road deaths in Iowa are down compared to last year. The Iowa State Patrol said as of Friday, 342 people have died in crashes on state roads this year. That includes more than a handful of victims who died over the short time-period of Christmas. While less than 2023’s number, an Iowa State trooper noted the number is still unacceptable. The agency’s reported death toll came out before a deadly crash in Worth County that killed three people.
