(Massena) Massena City Superintendent Nick Reiley announced his resignation at a Special City Council meeting held on Monday.
According to the meeting minutes, Mayor Phil Przychodzin called the session to order at 5:45 p.m., with council members Adam McCunn, Kevin McCunn, Doug Venteicher, and Jackson Bissell present. Council member Micah Lee was absent. Reiley requested the council go into a closed session, which concluded at 6:20 p.m. During this time, Reiley submitted his resignation letter, which will take effect on January 2, 2025.
Following the closed session, the council, along with Mayor Przychodzin, appointed Bryant Griffen, the current Assistant City Superintendent, to take over as City Superintendent. Griffen agreed to step into the role.
Additionally, the council decided to reduce the city’s workforce to a single full-time employee, with the option to hire a part-time worker for snow removal and lawn mowing as needed.
Other actions taken included:
- A motion by Jackson Bissell to table Resolution 24-19 (Setting Wages for Employees) until Adam McCunn seconded the January meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
- Doug Venteicher moved to approve Greenfield Municipal Utilities (GMU) as the water operator by affidavit, which Jackson Bissell seconded. This motion also passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m. following a motion by Doug Venteicher, seconded by Jackson Bissell. The motion passed without objection.
