(Cedar Rapids) A school teacher in Iowa is accused of violating a student’s freedom of speech after posting a list of banned words and phrases in the classroom. The teacher with the Fremont-Mills School District posted almost 30 banned words, including “Ohio” and “chat.” Students are also not allowed to make references to drugs or the holocaust. The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression says the list is obnoxious, but the district says some language can disrupt the classroom or hurt other students. The poster has since been taken down.
