(Des Moines, IA) — On top of Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s, residents in Iowa have another reason to celebrate as the state turns over 175 years old this weekend. Saturday, December 28th, marks Iowa’s 178th birthday. In 1846, President James K. Polk signed a bill admitting Iowa into the Union. The Hawkeye State was the 29th state to join the Union.
