(Sacramento, CA) — In the next few weeks, about one million taxpayers will receive special payments of up to 14 hundred dollars from the IRS.
The payments are for those who didn’t claim a tax credit on their 2021 returns, which was available for people who missed COVID relief payments or didn’t receive the full amount. The payments will be directly deposited into their bank accounts or mailed as checks, arriving by late January 2025. The maximum payment of 14 hundred dollars is for those who filed a 2021 tax return but either left the credit section blank or mistakenly indicated they didn’t qualify.
The estimated amount of payments going out is about almost two and a half billion.
