(Avoca, IA) — To be undefeated at this point of the wrestling season, is saying a lot. It says that you are in position to be high on the medal stand when the state tournament rolls around in late Februrary. Kayden Baxter of AHSTW is one of those wrestlers.
Baxter did get on the medal stand last year finishing in 6th place but he has not had any consistency in the wrestling room to help him go in one direction as head coaches have come and gone with the program — 3 different coaches with 3 different styles of coaching says Baxter
Baxter says he got involved with wrestling at an early age, mostly thanks to Mom and Dad
This season, the Vikings do not have a big roster on the wrestling team — that had seven compete at the Western Iowa Conference meet this past Saturday in which Baxter and Henry Lund both won conference championships. Baxter says they may be small but they all work hard
Baxter won all three of his matches at the WIC tournament by tech fall — all 16 of his wins have been by fall, tech fall or forfeit but Baxter says he wants to be mentally prepared for the rest of the season so he can contend for the 175 pound title
AHSTW will next compete in the Rollin Dyer Invitational in Atlantic on January 11
