(Guthrie Center, IA) — After getting stormed out on Friday, AHSTW and ACGC will be antsy to get back on the court tonight for a Girls/Boys Doubleheader, coverage on KSOM.
The ACGC girls team is 4-0 and the only senior on the team has acted like it — Shay Lemke is off to a great start, averaging 15 points, 8.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 4 steals a game. Camdyn Richter (14.5 ppg) and Stella Largent (12.2 ppg) have also been scoring but the offense is the not the thing that Head Coach Brad Baudler likes so far
The Chargers face an AHSTW team that is 2-2 and does not have a senior and is still trying to find what kind of team they will be. Sophomore Bella Lamp leads the Lady Vikes in scoring, averaging 7.8 a game and is shooting 40 percent from three point land. Junior Ava Paulsen and Freshman Clara Pace have improved. Baudler says they are an athletic team that he can’t take lightly
Ava Paulsen and her twin sister Makenna Paulsen are the only two juniors on the team so they have to be leaders. Ava says the young players have been coming along
On the boys side, the Vikings are still looking for their first win. AHSTW lost to Underwood 75-46 but Head Coach GG Harris saw some improvement in a 70-58 loss to Tri Center, especially from leading scorer Luke Sternberg who is averaging 22 points a game
Camden Soukop also averages in double figures at 10.5 a game but one point of emphasis for Harris is rebounding which was better against the Trojans but still has a ways to go
AC/GC meanwhile has not lost this season and is 3-0. Jathan South leads the team in scoring with 22.7 ppg but offense doesn’t seem to be a problem. Head Coach Lance Kading really wants to see his team step it up on the defensive side
Rebounding has been a strength for the Chargers — Payton Policky is averaging a double double 15 points a game and an incredible 13.3 rebounds a contest. Kading says he has a knack for getting the ball
AHSTW visits ACGC on Monday night in a Girls/Boys Doubleheader, Girls start at 6 pm, coverage on KSOM.
