(Madison, WI) — A Midwest utility is looking to grant 25 one-thousand dollar scholarships for students in Wisconsin and Iowa, with a focus on energy solutions using an approach focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Andy Kitslaar with Alliant Energy says students submit an essay, tackling an energy problem in their local area, and come up with a solution. The best solutions get awarded the scholarship.
Kitslaar says the best solutions in recent years have focused on renewable energy, and that’s been a popular topic.
Alliant also hopes the scholarships will help attract some students to work in the energy sector.
