(Washington, DC) — U.S. Fish and Wildlife is proposing parts of six states be designated as critical habitat for the Rusty Patched Bumblebee, including 45-thousand acres in Iowa.
An underground nest of the endangered bee was confirmed in Iowa City this fall. They used to be common in 28 states, now just seven.
The public comment period for the critical habitat proposal is open through the end of January at regulations.gov… search for Rusty Patched Bumblebee.
