(Des Moines) Bitterly cold temperatures will settle in across the state beginning Thanksgiving Day. Dylan Dodson, a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Des Moines, says temperatures will start to fall Wednesday night into Thursday and last through the weekend. He says the coldest temperatures will arrive on Saturday and Sunday.
Dodson says this system is coming from the north, pulling the cold air with it. He says the cold weather pattern will persist through the beginning of next week. However, temperatures should moderate back into the 30s on Monday, with highs in the mid-to-upper thirties by Tuesday. However, he doesn’t expect the cold temperatures to go away completely. Skies will be mostly clear Thanksgiving Day through Monday. There is a 30-percent chance of snow on Friday night.
