(Atlantic) Santa Claus made an early arrival in Atlantic this evening, marking the start of the holiday season with his trademark magical Ho-Ho-Ho. At the sound of his laughter, over 200,000 twinkling lights illuminated the downtown area and City Park, casting a festive glow over the city. Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett warmly welcomed Santa Claus to the celebration, which took place at the Historic Rock Island Depot on the north edge of Main Street.
The event kicked off at 5:00 p.m. with Hy-Vee generously serving free hot dogs to the crowd. As the countdown ended and the lights flashed on, a sense of holiday magic filled the air. Santa then climbed aboard the fire truck for a festive ride to his cabin in City Park, where he greeted eager children, spreading cheer and posing for photos. It was a joyful evening that brought the community together, all thanks to Santa’s early arrival!
