(Exira) In early December 2021, crews poured seven concrete foundations for the Littlefield Cabin project. The cabins are prefabricated homes; six of the structures are single-family units that can accommodate six people, measuring 14 feet by 46 feet, while one larger, loft-style cabin can host 12 to 14 people. Audubon County Conservation Director Bruce Haag announced that the project is now ready for a soft open house, allowing the public to view three cabins on Saturday, November 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Two of the single-family cabins, along with the large loft cabin, will be available for reservations.
Haag noted that the addition of these seven cabins to the park will appeal to people who do not own campers.
The rental rates will begin next spring, with the loft cabin priced at $250 per night and the single-family cabins at $125 per night. However, rental rates will be reduced for the remainder of November and throughout December: the single-family units will cost $100 per night, while the loft cabin will be available for $200 per night.
Haag also mentioned that they are seeking donations of kitchenware, such as microwave-safe dishes and drinking glasses.
The Littlefield Recreation Area is at 3108 Pleasant Plaza, Exira, Iowa. The park features a campground with 100 modern sites and a 70-acre lake that is home to channel catfish, crappies, bluegill, largemouth bass, and carp. The lake is also popular for swimming, boasting a 400-foot-long beach.
