(Carroll) Kuemper is on a nine-game winning streak heading into tonight’s Class 2A quarterfinal matchup with West Lyon. Knights Head Coach Ryan Steinkamp credits the players with finding their identity after the opening-season loss to Bishop-Heelan.
The Knights’s offense is equally impressive as the defense, with 2,264 yards passing and 1,619 yards rushing. Jarin Hoffman leads the ball carriers with 216 carries for 1,233 yards. Carson Kanne is the leading receiver with 824 yards for Quarterback Brock Badding, completing 54 percent of his passes for 2051.
The Knights will face a tough West Lyon football team with an impressive defense. The Wildcats are 10-0 entering the game with four shutouts and six games allowing single digits for a score differential of 40-4. Offensively, the Wildcats have 2,172 yards of rushing and 1,194 passing yards.
The Wildcats’ Bryson Childress completes 70.8 percent of his passes for 1,054 yards, 16 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Childress is also fleet of foot, with 72 carries for 430 yards.
Kuemper travels to West Lyon with the kick-off at 7:00 p.m. at the Jay Rozeboom Complex.
