(Ames, IA) — Iowa St. Football Head Coach Matt Campbell always says that any team’s season is defined by how they do in November. This Saturday is November 2nd as the Cyclones host Texas Tech, coverage on KSOM.
Campbell is now in his 9th season as Head Coach of the Cyclones and he says his teams of the past have had opportunities in November and some went well and some did not. He says its no different with the 2024 version of the Cyclones
A win this week for ISU and they will be 8-0 for the first time in program history — Campbell is not concerned with history and concerned with records right now.
The bye week has made Iowa St. much healthier — Tight End Ben Brahmer is expected to play against the Red Raiders. Campbell says his injured linebackers are on the mend including former Harlan Cyclone Will McLaughlin
This week Rocco Becht was named to the Davey O’Brien Class of 2024 and is the running to win the award. Becht has been outstanding in leading the Cyclone offense this season, paving the way for ISU’s first 7-0 start since 1938. Through seven games, Becht has thrown for 1,712 yards and 11 touchdowns, completing passes at a 61.3% clip. One of the reasons he is up for awards like this according to Campbell is the ability to overcome mistakes
Becht’s counterpart at Texas Tech is Behren Morton who left last week’s game early against TCU which turned into a 35-34 loss to the Horned Frogs. Morton though did practice this week and is expected to start against ISU. Campbell says it doesn’t matter who plays QB, the system they have in place is a good one
5-3 Texas Tech visits #11 Iowa St. 7-0, game time is at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, Cyclones Pre Game at 12:30 on KSOM
