Gerald Lee “Jerry” Casey, the son of James Patrick and Doris Pauline (Silk) Casey, was born July 6, 1944, in Red Oak, IA. He died at his home near Griswold, IA, on October 24, 2024, at the age of 80 years.
Jerry attended school at Griswold, graduating from Griswold High School with the class of 1962. While in school he was active in FFA, Wrestling, and Cross Country. He served in the Army from 1966 until 1968. After being discharged, he worked for Jamesville Trucking, Best Trucking, and then retired from Neft Towing in 1996.
Jerry enjoyed playing pool, camping, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved any animal and had taken care of many pets.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Michael (Mickey); his sister Mary, his brother-in-law Harlan Rudd; his son John Cartwright; his wife Jackie; and his wife Linda.
He is survived by his children: Janell Harold and husband Terry of Omaha, NE, Tonya Burk and husband Ed of Milan, TN, Jerinda McKamy and husband Ronald of La Vista, NE, and Jill Cartwright of Ellensburg, WA; his sister Karen Rudd of Drakesville, IA; his brother David Casey of Drakesville, IA; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Gerald Casey will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Pleasant Township Cemetery. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is in charge of arrangements.
