(Griswold, IA) — High School Football teams in 2A, 1A, A, and 8 man that don’t make the playoffs have the option to schedule a 9th regular season game. The only one in the area that chose to do it is Griswold — the Tigers will host Melcher Dallas on Friday night.
Last week, Griswold lost to Exira EHK 60-30 so they will have the opportunity to erase the bitter taste out of their mouth. The Tigers did play better in the second quarter, especially on defense but Head Coach Seth Lembke says they could not overcome the first quarter
Early in the game, wideout Connor Bowers was an impact receiver with 7 catches for 97 yards but he got hurt in the second quarter and was ineffective the rest of the game although he tried to play on a gimpy leg. Lembke says Bowers is a big link in the chain and when he got hurt, the whole offense was affected
The Saints of Melcher Dallas also has 2 wins and has two quarterbacks that rotate with Senior Brody Johnson and Junior Reece Chiabotta who have combined for 986 passing yards, 14 TD, but 17 INT. They have struggled running the football, averaging only 3.6 yards a carry. Lembke says he just wants his guys to come out and play their game
2-7 Melcher Dallas visits 2-6 Griswold
