(Council Bluffs) An Altoona man was sentenced to federal prison for receiving child pornography. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
According to court records, 34-year-old Eduardo Ibarra Mora, a Mexican national, faces a sentence of 117 months in federal prison. Mora possessed 45 images and more than 60 videos containing child sexual abuse material on his phone and a social media account. After completing his term of imprisonment, Ibarra Mora will be required to serve a five-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Altoona Police Department investigated this case.
