(Oakland, IA) — On Monday night, the Riverside Boys Cross Country team won the Western Iowa Conference title — by one point. The Bulldogs got 37 points while Tri Center was second with 38 points. Dawson Henderson would beat his twin brother Brody Henderson for the individual conference title by 9/10 of a second. Riverside Head Coach Joe Oliver says neither Henderson likes to lose let alone to each other
One of the keys for Riverside to win at conference was their depth — Oliver says one of their runners was battling illness so others stepped up
On the girls side, Riverside did not have the depth to compete in the team standings, finishing 6th out of 6 teams but there were some solid individual performances starting with Freshman Iviana Schechinger
Riverside now awaits the cross country state qualifying meet assignments — the Class 1A district meet for boys and girls is next Thursday, October 24.
