(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors are looking at finding ways to improve the quality of their rural roads. Supervisor Maggie Armstrong and County Engineer Josh Sebern went to a recent safety action plan workshop which was attended by a majority of Iowa’s counties. Armstrong says it was part of the state’s push towards zero fatalities on Iowa roads
Sebern says the county has done a number of things to improve their roads already
The main priority of the Iowa campaign is to address paved roads but Supervisor Mike Dickson wants the paved roads to be addressed
Sebern says they have developed a system county wide to address repairs to roads and they will apply for grants for gravel roads but money is awarded based on traffic volume and they are competing for dollars with other counties nationwide.
