(Neola, IA) — Tri Center was not the popular pick for a District Champ in Class A, District #8 at the beginning of the season. Woodbury Central was ranked #1 in the pre-season but that was August — in October, Tri Center will now walk away as the district champ after thumping the Wildcats 34-8 last Friday.
Woodbury Central did shut down the Trojans running game — only 57 yards total but Tri Center did the same to the Wildcats — they had just 69 yards of rushing and Trojans Head Coach Ryan Schroder attributes this win to his defense
Brenton Kramer led Tri Center in tackles with 8.5; the defense did not get any turnovers, Tri Center was minus 1 in the turnover margin but Schroder says the kids up front made up for it
Tri Center had lost their first game of the season but they have won six in a row in the middle of a tough schedule and now the verge of winning the district title outright. Schroder says it was a goal they established last spring
This week the 6-1 Tri Center Trojans will travel to the 4-3 Kingsley Pierson Panthers.
