(Atlantic) Members and spouses of Pymosa Lodge No. 271 in Atlantic recently joined Masons from across Iowa at the 180th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Iowa in Cedar Rapids. The annual communication, held at various venues around the state each year, involves voting on policy and by-law changes, electing officers, and hosting award ceremonies. This year, Pymosa Lodge was honored with one of the Lodge of the Year awards for their ongoing support of Masonry in Iowa.
Pymosa Lodge was chartered at the Annual Communication on June 8, 1970, and has maintained continuous membership for 154 years. Locally, the Lodge organizes two major fundraisers each year: The St. Patrick’s Day Stew Feed and the Scholarship Can Collection. The proceeds from these activities go towards providing scholarships for students in Atlantic and CAM. Additionally, the Lodge supports various local programs such as the Atlantic Fire Department, the Atlantic Police Department, the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce, and Atlantic Rising.
During the event, elections were held for the Grand Lodge officers who will represent the Masons across the state of Iowa this year. Right Worshipful Brother Donnie Drennan was elected to hold the office of Senior Grand Warden for the 2024-2025 term. Worshipful Brother John Bricker serves as the vice-chairman of the Lodge Service Committee for the Grand Lodge. His responsibilities include traveling across the state to promote masonry, providing Masonic education to local lodges, and coordinating meetings of the Grand Master and the Grand Secretary.
