(Appanoose County) A fish caught in southern Iowa’s Appanoose County could be a record-breaker. Testing is underway on a black crappie pulled out of an Appanoose County Lake, but there’s the catch: it may be a hybrid, black and white crappie. If so, the impressive 18-inch fish weighs over four pounds and may not break the record. There is no biggest fish category for a hybrid crappie.
