(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board approved a bid for wireless radios for each of the school buildings at Wednesday’s Special Meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Beth Johnsen said each school district is receiving 50-thousand-dollars per building as part of a safety grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
Dr. Johnsen said they applied for the grant and they had to get at least three bids on the walkie-talkies. The board received bids from Electronic Engineering, Nishnanet, and Wireless Universe. They approved the low-bid from Electronic Engineering.

Superintendent Dr. Beth Johnsen is in her second year of a two-year interim Superintendent contract and the Board’s intent is to hire a permanent Superintendent. The board heard presentations from three firms during their meeting on September 11th: Ray and Associates, McPherson and Jacobsen, and HYA Associates. Board Member Laura McLean was not in attendance at Wednesday’s meeting and the board felt they needed a bit more time to make a decision as well as to hear McLean’s opinions.
The Board also approved renewing the EFR Employee and Family Resources Agreement.
