(Des Moines) Des Moines Public Schools is considering closing some schools and changing district boundaries. The closures are due to a loss of nearly 2,500 students since the 2018-19 school year. The district’s “Reimagining Education” Initiative addresses rising costs and makes schools more attractive to families. Proposed changes include altering the grade structure and possibly retiring underutilized buildings. A detailed proposal is expected in early 2025.
