(Atlantic) Cass Health’s Senior Life Solutions team is organizing a free community walk supporting National Suicide Prevention Month.
The event will occur this evening at 6:30 pm at City Park in Atlantic. The walk will commence once Produce in the Park concludes for the evening. The event will open with local speakers, followed by a walk around City Park, where the Christmas lights will be turned on.
“We are grateful to the city for illuminating the Christmas lights in the park. We hope that this will draw attention to suicide prevention. Our objective is to raise awareness about signs indicating suicidal thoughts or potential suicide attempts, enabling friends, family, and loved ones to intervene and help prevent suicide,” said Karmen Roland, RN, Program Director of Senior Life Solutions. In case of an emergency, dial 911 immediately.
If you are in crisis or have troubling or suicidal thoughts, you can call, text, or chat with the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988. Healthy Cass County and Cass County Iowa State University Extension co-host the walk. For further information about the walk, call 712-250-8100.
