(Harlan) The Harlan City Council approved changing the minimum age for the Harlan Fire Department membership from 19 years of age to 18.
Harlan City Administrator Gene Gettys told the Council on Tuesday that the Fire Chief is recommending this for a couple of reasons.
Gettys said any time there is a Fire Department Constitution change or amendment it needs to be formally blessed by the City Council.
The Council also approved the Noise Variance Permit from Shelby County Speedway for September 20th through September 22nd for Tiny Lund Night at the Speedway. Gettys said this is an annual request.
In other action, the Council approve the 2024 Homecoming Parade permit for September 27th at 2:00 p.m. And, the Council approved the Iowa Department of Transportation 2024 Street Finance Report and authorized the City Clerk to sign it.
