(Des Moines) Iowa political leaders are ramping up efforts to engage voters for this election. National Voter Day was yesterday. Currently, only about two-thirds of Iowans are registered to vote. There has been a noticeable increase in younger individuals registering to vote. Both parties are emphasizing outreach in underrepresented areas to encourage participation. Secretary of State Paul Pate stresses the importance of voting for young people to make their voices heard. Iowans can begin filling out absentee ballots starting October 16th.
