(Griswold) On Monday, the Griswold School Board approved numerous agenda items, including the Red Oak Glass safety grant bid to install push-button locks on all classroom doors.
Superintendent Dave Henrichs stated that this would allow teachers to lock classroom doors from the inside in case of a dangerous situation rather than needing to go into the hallway to lock the door with a key. The safety grant will pay for the elementary section, while the Griswold School District will pay for the middle and high school sections.
Henrichs says the School Board also approved the formation of a School Advisory Committee under the Iowa Code.
The committee’s responsibilities include making recommendations for educational needs, establishing long-term learning goals in reading, math, and science, and addressing bullying and harassment policies.
The board of education will approve all recommendations from the committee, composed of teachers, parents, students, administration, and community members.
