(Neola) Tri-Center enters Class A District 8 play with a 27-21 win over non-district for Treynor last week. The Trojans are 1-1 heading into Friday’s game against 0-2 West Monona. Despite the win over #4 rated Treynor last week, Tri-Center Head Coach Ryan Schroder needs to recognize West Monona is a decent football team, and his ballclub cannot take anyone lightly.
The Spartans have rushed for 270 total yards in their first two outings, averaging 4.3 yards per carry, led by Elias Sorensen’s 103 yards and 6.1 yards per carry. Coach Schroder is impressed with their running game.
Coach Schroder points to Quarterback Chase Lander, who has thrown for 117 yards and one touchdown, and Brayden Komerek as one player they must identify throughout the game.
The Trojans’ offense has put up impressive numbers through the first two games of the season. Isaac Wohlhuter has completed 14/24 passes for 244 yards and four touchdowns. The rushing game balances off the attack with 177 total yards and an eight-yard-per-carry average. Still, Coach Schroder wants his team to pick up the pace.
Tri-Center shut out West Monona 49-0 last season. The kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. at Tri-Center High School.
