(Corning, IA) — When you see a 43-6 loss for Southwest Valley last week to South Central Calhoun, you think blowout but the score was deceptive. It was a scoreless first quarter and the Titans had a 14-0 win at half; the Timberwolves were only trailing 21-6 early in the 4th quarter before the game got away and Calhoun would run the score up late, at least that’s according to Head Coach Keegan Longabaugh who believed his team played better than what the scoreboard showed
Junior QB Wyatt Mendenhall was just 4-9 passing for 11 yards and 1 INT plus ran 18 times for 57 yards, averaging 3.2 yards a carry and was sacked twice. Longabaugh says it was a frustrating night for him
This week Southwest Valley hosts a solid Grand View Christian club; its an early Homecoming game for the Timberwolves if you can believe it. The Thunder are undefeated and Longabaugh would like to see his offensive line get more down and dirty this week
Grand View Christian 2-0, Southwest Valley 1-1.
