(Harlan) Harlan looks to bounce back in a week two non-district football game against Denison-Schleswig. The Cyclones fell short to Lewis Central 31-10 last week. Harlan Head Coach Todd Bladt says the big focus on offense is having the correct number of players on the field this week.
Coach Bladt says they want to establish the run game and work into the passing game. The Cyclones rushed for 195 yards last week, led by Lukos Francis’s 132 yards.
Cyclone quarterback Gabe Arkfeld played JV one year ago and took seven snaps at the varsity level. Coach Bladt has confidence in his first-year varsity starter. The junior completed five of fourteen passes for 47 yards in last week’s season opener.
Cyclones linebacker Bryce Van Baale. The senior recorded 17 tackles, and 13 of those were solo stops. Bladt says Van Baale was running sideline-to-sideline.
Coach Bladt says the Monarchs have a solid defensive line, and the skilled players are good. Bladt says they are solid on defense and offense.
The kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Harlan.
