(Avoca, IA) — US Highway 59 will light up with cars tonight as fans from Oakland will travel the 14 or so miles north to Avoca for a football rivalry — Riverside visits 9th ranked AHSTW, coverage on 96.5 FM KSOM.
The Bulldogs beat West Monona 68-0 in their opener as Jaxon Gordon ran for 185 yards and 4 TD; with 33 yards tonight he will go over 2,000 yards for his career. Gordon says it would be great thing to achieve but he says Riverside’s game wasn’t perfect, they are still striving to improve
Gordon got hurt in his freshman year but still ran for 516 yards and 7 TD; he followed it up with 1,266 yards and 14 scores plus had 30 receptions for 438 yards and 3 TD. He says his Dad is a big influence and has given him invaluable advice
AHSTW has won the last three meetings between the two teams, all of them blowouts but Gordon believes this is their year
Vikings Head Coach GG Harris says it will not be easy for his defense to deal with Jaxon Gordon’s running ability
For AHSTW, QB Camden Soukop threw for 158 yards and 2 TD in a 26-21 win over Tri-Center. Soukop also ran 17 times for 126 yards and 2 more scores. He may not be Gordon but Harris says he had a strong game
