(Adair Co) The Adair County Board of Supervisors this morning received a report on maintenance and activities from Engineer Nick Kauffman.
The Supervisors also held a lengthy conversation on a request for access near Lewis Avenue and 150th Street. The property owners are requesting access to their property and livestock operation. They proposed converting approximately three-quarters of a mile of roadway to Level A.
Engineer Nick Kauffman said they would have to drop everything they are working on to upgrade a Level B road. It was noted that a box culvert on the north end would probably be more cost effective, but Kauffman said that the box culvert where the low water crossing is currently located on the north side of section 35 of Walnut Township would cost between 200 and 220-thousand dollars. He said they would have to use local option sales tax funds and it would be two to three years before they could come up with that kind of money in that account unless they bumped one of the projects they already committed to.
The Supervisors took no action on the issue.
