(Guthrie Center, IA) — Residents of Guthrie County continued to voice opposition to the building of the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. The Supervisors did pass a draft of a resolution objecting to the use of eminent domain by the Iowa Utilities Commission that reads in part for the Commission to support alternative approaches to development that respects property rights and the input of affected communities.
Supervisor Brian Johnson hopes that this resolution makes a statement
Supervisor Maggie Armstrong says she opposes the pipeline for one simple reason
Supervisor J.D. Kuster believes that opposition in Guthrie County seems stronger than other areas
Some at the meeting questioned whether the resolution enacted by the Board was watered down because it was only one page however Armstrong argued that the resolution is strong, short to the point and other resolutions passed by other bodies were not as strong as this one.
