(Dallas, TX) — Caitlin Clark has set rookie records throughout the season but the Indiana Fever’s record finally gets above .500 for the first time this season with a 100-93 win at Dallas on Sunday.
It was a close game throughout, Dallas would lead 76-70 early in the 4th quarter. Clark would dish to Aliyah Boston for an easy 2, after the Wings missed a three, Clark found Boston again for a layup and a three point play. The Wings answered with a 17 footer but Clark dished it to Damiris Dantas for a tying three pointer, it was 78 all. A Clark three would give Indiana an 81-80 lead with 6:23 left.
Dallas answered back as Natasha Howard hit a floater in the lane to put the Wings up 82-81 but Clark struck again with her second three in a row to make it 84-82 Fever. Kelsey Mitchell added another three off a Clark assist to make it 87-84 with 5:32 left.
The Wings went on a 5-0 run to retake the lead 89-87 but another Clark assist set up Dantas for a tying 13 footer. Mitchell got a go ahead layup to make it 91-89 with 3:19 left. Indiana would never trail the rest of the game.
Clark finished with 28 points and 12 assists — 2 of her 5 three pointers and 5 of her 12 assists came in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line. Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 36 points.
The Fever are now above .500 for the first time this season — 17-16, they have won 4 in a row and currently have the 6th spot in the WNBA playoff standings, 2.5 games behind Seattle with 7 games to play. Next up for the Fever, they host Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 4.
