Audubon) Public Health Director Jotham Arber, appearing in front of the Audubon County Board of Supervisors this morning, reported on the Baby’s Nest Program. Supervisor Chairman Heath Hansen says the program aims to help needy families by rewarding responsible parent behavior.
Hanson says the program rewards parents for practicing good habits that may not have existed in the first place. The program will help form good habits temporarily and break generational poverty.
He says the program rewards parents for activities that benefit their family unit, such as going to doctor’s appointments, bringing children to community events, and attending parental classes.
Hanson says the program helps to create new norms within their family that will hopefully help them break out of the cycle that led them to poverty in the first place.
