(Harlan) The Shelby County Board of Supervisors approved a new IT policy last week. Shelby County IT Administrator Austin Staley requested that the supervisors approve a new IT policy that would bring the County to a higher level of security and compliance in the IT department. The Supervisors honored that request.
Shelby County Election Commissioner Mark Maxwell informed the board that the election department is planning to purchase $21,063.00 for election equipment. The Department needs new laptops, and compatible printers are included in the purchase. The Supervisors approved the expenditure.
Shelby County Engineer Chris Fredricksen reported to the County Supervisor that the culvert repair project on M16 is nearing completion. The equipment is moving to a new site. Additionally, Fredricksen mentioned the seal coat on Corely Roads.
Shelby County Jail Administrator Kyle Lindberg noted that Amanda Irlmeier is now the new Jail Sergeant. He mentioned there are two open positions in his department, and the remaining qualified applicants will fill the prerequisites. He added that jail numbers are down this year, and mental health challenges resulted in more repeat prisoners.
