(Iowa City, IA) — While Head Coach Kirk Ferentz has had to deal with off the field issues this week, on the field Ferentz says there is still competition at key spots.
At wide receiver, Iowa got in transfer Junior Jacob Gill who saw limited time at Northwestern because of injuries and Ferentz believes he can have an immediate impact in a wide open receivers room that has potential to be really good
There is still a battle at one of the cornerback spots — Senior Jermari Harris is a lock on one side but the other side is still a “jump ball” Ferentz says — in fact there is plenty of competition at many spots right now
Iowa opens this Saturday against Illinois St.; assistant Seth Wallace will run the team with Ferentz sitting out a one game suspension.
